Moducare® is a patented immune-support formula made from a specific blend of plant sterols: sitosterol (BSS) and sitosterolin (BSSG), combined in a 100:1 ratio.
This plant sterol combination was first marketed in Germany in 1974, after its beneficial use in benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH) had been established. Two years later, the same BSS/BSSG mixture was also used in a product for rheumatoid arthritis support.
In 1989, Professor Patrick Bouic and his colleagues at the Medical School of the University of Stellenbosch discovered that both sitosterol and sitosterolin have immune-modulating effects, ultimately leading to this patented product.
